Frequently Asked Questions

How are you cheaper than other suppliers?

Sastak is a non-profit, meaning less takings for us, and more savings for you. Having a large membership ensures bigger discounts.

What does it cost to join Sastak?

There is a one-off joining fee of £50 which is a share in the co-operative and an annual £95+VAT subscription. On each transaction Sastak will charge the agreed commission.

How do I order?

What are the payment terms?

Payment is normally within 21 days of our invoice, so the product or service is delivered, and then payment to us is within 21 days, and then payment to supplier is 30 days. This way our suppliers know they will always be paid on time.

Who owns the machinery?

All the machinery is owned by individual members. Sastak registers all machinery on a database. Supplier members are free to offer whatever they like, with or without operators.

What about damage?

With contracting work, the maintenance and repairs of machinery are the responsibility of the supplier.

What about insurance?

All members are required to inform their insurers that they have joined a machinery ring and take out appropriate cover.

What if there is a dispute?

The manager will attempt to resolve disputes and in the event of a failure the Board’s decision will be final.

Will I lose my independence?

No. All members are free to offer as much or as little of their time and equipment as they wish. Clients can specify who they would prefer to carry out the job. Likewise, suppliers may decline work offered.

How far will I be expected to travel?

It’s up to you. Most work is carried out within a 20 mile radius.

Can I still use my existing contractor?

You are free to do so but we’d expect you to let Sastak quote for any new work.

I've had the same supplier for years. Why should I come to you?

It’s no issue, but please just phone us to make sure that your supplier is being fair with prices.
